Plymouth Branch Early Season events and update

Plymouth Branch activities kick off for the season with the annual dinner on 5 May. Other up and coming events are also detailed

With the 2017 season now getting underway I would like to take the opportunity to highlight a few up and coming events being organised by your branch committee members.

Annual Dinner: This will take place at the Yealm Yacht Club on Friday 5 May at 1900 for 1930, rig is smart casual and places should be booked with Ray Bailey ( ray_bailey@talktalk.net ) the cost is £25 per head (cheque or cash on the night) and Ray will need your menu choices by 1 May. The menu is below and there will be some wine included in the cost.

STARTERS..1...deep fried goat cheese with caramalized onion
2...asparagus wrapped in pancetta served with lemon garlic mayo
3...crab and avocado gratin
MAIN COURSES
4...pork tenderloin served in an oyster mushroom & sherry sauce
5...monkfish cooked in a creamy pepper sauce
6...braised lamb shank served in a honey,mustard & madeira jus
DESSERTS..
7...apple,ricotta & white chocolate tart
8...profiteroles with warm belgian chocolate sauce
9...treacle tart with caramel sauce & ice cream

tea or coffee...............


Yealm Cruising Meeting: To coincide with the Annual Dinner there will be a cruising meeting over the weekend of 5-7 May at the Yealm. This is an ideal opportunity to shake down from your winter refit, meet up with fellow sailors and enjoy the Annual Dinner without the need to drive! Please indicate if you think you may attend to Mark Hocking (markjh15@gmail.com).

The plan is as follows:

Friday 5 May
Those attending the Branch Annual Dinner muster at the upper pontoon by 1800 in time to go ashore for the Dinner. Others to arrive as they wish.

Saturday 6 May -
All Day - Any further arrivals

1300 - Those who wish to muster on the path ashore adjacent to the RNSA buoy for a walk around the headland finishing (via a swift half at The Ship) back at the start point - Stephen Maltby to lead the walk.

1800 - Muster on the upper pontoon for Rum Punch and nibbles

1930 - Dinner ashore or onboard as desired.

Sunday 7 May
1130 Those who wish sail in company back to Plymouth to take photographs en route.


Late May Bank Holiday Offshore race and cruise to St Peter Port. Get the year off to a great start with either a race or cruise to St Peter Port, race starts at 0600 on Saturday 27 May . All cruisers are welcome to join the racing fleet for a social after the race to St Peter Port, why not take the opportunity to fill up with cheap Diesel while you are there! Branch Calendar: The branch has produced a calendar for the year which has been distributed in hard copy to most of the local marinas, yacht clubs and service organisations. a PDF version is available on the RNSA web site and is attached for your convenience. (If you print a copy 2 sided use the best quality paper possible for best results)

Photographic Competition: The branch will be running a competition to get good local pictures for next year's calendar, there will be a prize for the best photographs and of course the prestige of your picture being used. No royalties will be paid! Get snapping and look out for details of how to submit your entries.
