RNSA(P) Wednesday Spring Series Race 6

Portsmouth - 04 May 17 General

Another own goal for the Met office amateurs who last week promised warmth and sunshine from Wednesday onwards. The only sunshine the Gilkicker fleet got was being sailed by Malcolm Roberts.

So cold and grey with a shifty northerly quadrant breeze varying between 10-20 knots. No SOOD as JJT had a dodgy rudder bearing to change so Option kindly volunteered to preside.
A deep run to Kemps Quay followed by a gybe and kite reach to Mackley Van Oord followed by a beat across the strong west going tide to Stokes Bay Central was set with all boats starting together.
TT, a little eager was OCS and took forever to return against the tide but eventually got away to chase after the fleet. The beat back to Stokes Bay was further complicated by the amount of shipping to be avoided and the fleet spread as shifts and tactics came into play. Sunshine led around the windward mark followed by TT,Electron and Spirit of Kudu which was the order at the finish but with SOK taking the bullet on handicap. Hurrying Angel sailing her first Wednesday Series took first place once again in NHC. With three races left and more discards to kick in it is still all to play for in both classes.
