RNSA (Dinghies) Overseas Visit (OSV) to Italy.

Gravedona, Lake Como, Italy - 24 - 28 Jul 17 Dinghies

RNSA (Dinghies) is supporting an Overseas Visit (OSV) to Gravedona, Lake Como, Italy this year to attend the RS Eurocup, 24-28 July 2017.

The aim is to take up to a maximum of 12 sailors and 6 boats which will probably be a combination of RS200s and RS400s, or potentially RS100 if you have one. The essential prerequisites are that you are an RNSA member, an RN Sports Lottery Member and have a valid (in-date) passport and Service ID card. There is also the expectation that you will make yourself available for the inter-service dinghy sailing championships (The Gold Cup) in September 2017.

The RN Sports Lottery will hopefully support the funding of this OSV including travel, accommodation and entry fee. At this stage, depending on the actual number of attendees and the exact accommodation, I estimate your personal contribution to be around £100.

The plan is to leave Gosport at around 1630 on Fri 21st July and drive to Gravedona, with the aim of arriving late afternoon on Sat 22nd July. In order to undertake this rather epic drive we will require at least 2 (ideally 3) drivers per minibus with a D1E endorsement on their license. Sun 23 July will be for registration and practise before the competition starts on Mon 24th July. The return journey will commence at around 0530 on Sat 29th July to arrive back in Gosport in the early hours of Sun 30th July. There are a few options for accommodation ranging from camping to holiday apartments, my vote is definitely for an apartment!

If you are interested please contact me on the email address below or via the RN Dinghy Sailors Facebook page by 24 February so that I can start some of the detailed planning. Please can you indicate your choice of class, preference for helm/crew, intended crewmate if you have one and whether or not you have the D1E endorsement. I will need to have firm commitment and your service number by Fri 7th April (final day of inter-services team racing) in order to submit the application to the RNSA for funding. In the event I have more than 12 persons with a firm commitment I will have to resort to first come, first served, (or bribery!)
