Cruising

Cruising

The vast majority of RNSA’s 5,000+ members either own a craft or have friends who own one, ranging from canal boats to ocean going yachts. The RNSA cruising fraternity covers the whole spectrum of activity from blue water cruising to members who simply like to mess around in boats. A good number of Rallies and meets are organised annually by the RNSA Branches.

About Cruising in the RNSA

About

Cruising in the RNSA

There are over 5000 members in the RNSA and, although the racing fraternity seem to get all the glory, by and large the majority of members are cruising yachtsmen. Whether you are a blue water cruiser in foreign parts, a family cruiser in home waters or a middle distance sailor who explores the coast of UK and the nearby islands and coastline of mainland Europe, the Association has something for you.

Whatever floats your boat we have something to make your cruising life easier and more enjoyable. Another of the benefits of belonging to the RNSA.

Cruising Rallies and Meets

For home water cruisers the Branches around the country produce annual programmes of rallies overseen by Rear Commodore Cruising and his team. If you want to find out what is going on in this area look at the Cruising Event Calendar on this website or contact one of the Cruising Committee whose detsails are also shown.

Honorary Local Officers

If you prefer to sail alone or further afield there is a network of Honorary Local Officers (HLOs) who can provide information about facilities in their areas; their details are listed in the Yearbook or can be viewed on line in the "Members Only" section of this website. If you do not already have a user name and password, you can get your login details from the RNSA Office.

Cruise Reports and Forum

There is also a wealth of other information recorded in members’ cruise reports published in the Journal which are well worth reviewing before you venture into waters with which you are unfamiliar. A searchable database of cruise reports is also available in the "Members Only" section of the website, along with a Cruising Forum in which you can exchange views and seek advice on cruising matters from fellow members.
