RNSA(P) Wednesday Spring Series race 3

Portsmouth - 11 Apr 19 Offshore

Despite the cool north easterly it was a cracking evening for a sail with plenty of sunshine and another great sunset thrown in.

With the late withdrawal of Jolly Jack Tar with gear failure (no forwards, no reverse - thanks Alex, great joke) Tinker T took on the role of SOOD once again. A course of a run to Browndown, a ninety degree testing reach to Mother Bank and a beat home was set. First away in start 1 was Spirit of Kudu with a nifty kite set and she led the charge towards Browndown. However gybing her kite at the mark when others dropped was her undoing and she struggled to maintain her line towards Mother Bank, eventually having to drop. This cost her a fair bit of time.

In the second start, Sunshine shaded Tinker T on the hoist but with Tinker T inside at the Darling Associates distance mark she could edge towards the slight advantage of the fading west going tide and was able to match the generally faster Sunshine for speed. At Browndown it was Tinker T overlapped inside on Sunshine who gybed first and then enjoyed a fast reach under headsail towards Mother Bank. Despite mixing up with the first start at the mark TT managed to tack left towards Stokes Bay and a fast east going tide and was eventually only caught at the finish line by the rapidly charging Sunsail 40 of Turn to Starboard.

When the numbers were crunched TT took the win from Option and Kudu whilst in NHC Wizard took top spot followed by the Sunsail and Crazy Horse.

The curries and pie provided by HSSC were as ever superb!
