The RN wins the annual team racing competition against the French

The 'Le Crunch' regatta is an annual event that sees the Royal Navy and Marine Nationale compete. This year the event was hosted and run by the RYS from Cowes and the format saw 3-boat team racing in J70s. With 4 service personnel per boat, it was great to see 24 sailors out on the water. The weather ranged from no wind to 20 knots with the associated challenges. A superb dinner held at the RYS was the highlight of the social activity. The racing was fun and got closer as the event progressed but the RN always maintained an edge and were worthy winners. It was a pleasure to see senior level support and we are most grateful to both Vice Admiral Kyd and Vice Admiral Gardner for taking time out from their busy programmes to join us.

This event took considerable effort to put on and a huge thanks to the many volunteers. It was genuinely well worth it and demonstrated what RNSA can help enable for service sailing. We would also like to thanks Thales for their generous support.

More articles and photos to follow but just wanted to get the good news out that RN sailing continues to flourish.
