RNSA(P) Dinghy James Cup 1

Portsmouth - 06 Jun 19 Dinghies

First of 5 evenings of handicap racing in Portsmouth harbour

Four RNSA sailors turned out for the first evening of the James Cup. All four sailed fusions which, to the race officer’s delight, negated the need for handicap. The sun shone throughout and the fleet enjoyed some occasionally flukey SE F3 winds. All the competitors arrived on time and rigged boats promptly meaning the fleet was afloat by 1715.

The first 2 races took place close to the sailing centre with those 2 results going towards the James Cup series. With ample time available and better winds further down the harbour, 2 additional races around a triangular course were run to allow competitors to hone their skills and build on knowledge gained in the previous race coaching sessions.

Dom Jacobs (DNTL) now leads the series with a pair of bullets followed by Henry Wilson (DTUS), Katrina Juniper (NCHQ) and Charlotte Burman (HMS SULTAN). The results grid will be uploaded here in due course but are summarised at the bottom of this page.

It’s still all to play for with 8 races remaining in the series - 2 races are planned on each of the following Thursday evenings: 13 Jun, 4 Jul, 11 Jul & 25 Jul. Book your boat via
