RNSA(P) Wednesday Summer Series race 8

Portsmouth - 18 Jul 19 Offshore

Another glorious summers evening designed entirely for yacht racing.

Almost the full fleet assembled missing only Kurketrekker (running racing in the west country), Jolly Jack Tar (dodgy donk) and Swordfish (charter) although the Turn to Starboard Match 40 provided by Sunsail has also now foundered through lack of funding - sad!
Tinker T in the absence of Kurketrekker took on SOOD duties and set a long windward - leeward course with the beat into a raging east going tide, a delight for the faster boats!
The first start saw Crazy Horse picking the perfect line into Darling Associates closely followed by the two Sigma 33's. The Sigmas then split tacks with Spirit of Kudu opting to cross the tide early and Happy Apple hanging onto the mainland side.

The second start was even with Tinker T, Assassin and Sunshine together, but not for long as the faster boats powered through Tinker T. Assassin as expected led around the windward mark closely followed by Sunshine before the first of the early start boats Happy Apple rounded, well clear of SOK who had picked the wrong option upwind. That was the order at the finish with only Danegeld spoiling the fast boat party by taking a good third place when the numbers were crunched. Wizard's patience paid off to take NHC.

With one race to go in the Summer Series Assassin has stormed to the front and is unassailable so the final race next Wednesday will determine the rest of the podium.

All the crews very much enjoyed the two curries on offer and a great chicken pie at HSSC on completion of racing.
