RNSA(P) Wednesday Autumn Series race 8

Portsmouth - 10 Oct 19 Offshore

It cannot have been just our crew as the rain hissed down and the wind shrieked through the rigging asking of each other ''we do this for fun right?''

However just as in that old seventies song 'Hello mudder, hello fadder' cape Grenada brightened considerably when the rain stopped and the wind eased to a working 15 knots. Out came the reefs along with the watery sunshine.
Tinker T the SOOD set a windward - leeward course to NE Ryde Middle and back, a half hour beat into an east going tide with a few options of how best to get to the windward mark. Winning the start by a tad, TT opted for a high point, occasional lee bow on the tide method whilst others went low and fast in the shallower waters of Stokes Bay. First to the mark was Jolly Jack Tar but as scratch boat, not unexpected. Tinker T followed a couple of minutes later and hoisting her kite immediately started to reel in JJT who was having a bit of a mare with their asymmetric. At the finish JJT just held their lead but not sufficient to stop TT taking the win on handicap and the Autumn Series IRC win. All to play for however in the final race of the season next week with the podium not yet settled in IRC and NHC. JJT, Danegeld and Spirit of Kudu are all in with a chance of the chocolates.

Diary dates RNSA(P) prizegiving at HSSC on 27 Nov, detailed timings in due course.

Apologies to Wizard who have disappeared from the Autumn Series NHC plot, but the Yacht of the Year results include her so I will provide an updated set of results for NHC Autumn when I can solve the mystery!

Great pie and curries Hornet - thanks!
