BRNC Team race in South America

Britannia Yacht Club - 13 Nov 19 General

Racing a J24 against 8 other Naval Delegations from around the world in Brazil and Chile.

In Rio De Janeiro the team made a very good start and had a commanding lead at the first mark however, a bent spinnaker pole then caused a loss of down-wind speed, but they still managed a creditable 4th place. Moving on to Santiago they came a very close second in the first 2 races but further racing had to be curtailed because of a lack of wind on the 3rd day and then a military coup! Overall an excellent set of results in foreign climes and as a bonus the young officers involved enjoyed some interesting shore time and excellent local hospitality.
