RNSA response to Coronavirus

Central - 17 Mar 20 General

All members should have received the following email:

Dear Members,

You will all be aware of the Government advice regarding Coronavirus and the need to implement a range of measures, including working from home if you can, avoiding non-essential travel and avoiding contact with friends and family as well as large gatherings and places. RNSA recognises it has a social obligation and a responsibility to both its members and staff. To reflect this, the RNSA Office will be closed from 18 March until further notice. The team will work remotely and endeavour to deliver a normal service so far as possible. Admin, post, shop orders, blue ensign permits, membership, journal editing, policy development and the like will all be managed as part of the contingency plan. The best contact details remain the office phone (02392 521100), the ‘duty mobile’ (07469 934271) or via email (admin@rnsa.org.uk). As a reminder Heather’s email is deputyceo@rnsa.org.uk and Phil’s ceo@rnsa.org.uk.

The RNSA will not be running any sailing or social events for the rest of this month and this will remain under review on a rolling basis. Most external sailing events that we enter are also being cancelled and where they are not, the default is for RNSA not to participate. This is being kept under close scrutiny and detailed risk assessments will be undertaken if appropriate. The Prize Giving has sadly had to be cancelled and alternative arrangements are under consideration.

For those with an interest in RNSA Moorings, John and Gemma are both working from home and handling all the normal business of the moorings’ estate. Gemma can be contacted on 07769 204879 and via her email moorings@rnsa.org.uk. The main impact will be the loss of ‘Grace’ for boat transfers as the maintenance of this service is currently considered too higher risk for all involved. We will, however, keep this under review and do our best to provide a routine check of the moorings. For emergencies, concerns or just to cheer him up, please contact John via his work mobile (07769 204873). We are also liaising closely with the relevant sites over access and will keep you informed of any changes.

The safety of our members, beneficiaries and staff and all their families is of paramount importance to us all and we will continue to monitor all the relevant policy and guidance closely, whilst delivering the best service we can.

Please stay safe and keep an eye out for further updates.

Yours aye

Phil

Chief Executive RNSA
