Cruising Events Updates

RC (Cruising) - 10 Apr 20 Cruising

Planned national 2020 events are being cancelled. With transport restrictions in the UK and border regulations in the EU a number of events we have been planning and looking forward to have been cancelled

Whilst it is disappointing to have events cancelled they do give a degree of certainty to help our planning for when the regulations allow us to get to our boats, start our pre season checks and go cruising.

Dunkirk 80. The 80th return by the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships has been cancelled. Plans are being looked at for a deferral to 2021.
The event has only ever been cancelled once before.

Oostend at Anchor. Cancelled, re scheduled for 27-30 May 2021.

Mayflower 400 and Clyde 2020 along with West Highland week

Check the Branch programmes where short notice events will appear once we are allowed to stay over night on our yachts (English Alert Rules apply.)

On behalf of the RNLI I pass on a concern that as the Country is released from lock down, boat owners and users naturally will rush to get afloat. We don’t want to stop people but ask that everyone takes time to check their boat before launching. Our experience is that the first spell of choppy seas users will experience blocked fuel filter or stagnant diesel fuel resulting in calls for the lifeboat. The diesel in most tanks will now be 8 to 9 months old.
