RNSA(P) Wednesday Autumn Series Race 2

Portsmouth - 30 Aug 17 Offshore

The forecast of light airs and rain did not bode well for the second race of the Autumn Series, however the optimists prevailed and a short but enjoyable race took place in a reasonable breeze with a hint of sun.

Option, the SOOD decided that with the breeze of 5 or 6 knots likely to die off completely a short course with starts combined was in order and set a beat with the tide to Stokes Bay west with a run back to the finish.

As it turned out the breeze increased slightly and held up which meant the fastest boats finished in a little under 40 mins however the slower yachts took nearly an hour so all got to race and get back to HSSC for another cracking curry when an hour or so earlier the likelihood of actually racing appeared somewhat slim. Sunshine, the scratch boat in the fleet, revelled in the light conditions and did a horizon job on the rest to take line honours and easily hold her time on handicap.
