Inter Services Asymmetric Championships for the Gold Cup: 23-24 Sep 17

RC (Dinghies) - 27 Sep 17 Dinghies

Tricky conditions and some well practised opposition meant the RN didn't manage to retain the mighty Gold Cup.

The RN was represented by 3 boats at the Inter Services Asymmetrics Championships for the Gold Cup at Thorney Island this weekend. Richard Watsham and Alex Pickles raced in an RS400, Simon Murray and Charlotte Burman in a 2000 and Gavin Marshall and Coral Crouch in an RS200.

Light winds on the Sunday made achieving consistent results tricky. The RS400 seemed to attract strange results following application of the handicap meantime the RS200 was struggling with a flapping slot gasket.

Better breeze on the Sunday was more enjoyable although a long wait before we started meant we only achieved 2 races to add to the 4 on the Saturday.

Rich and Alex continued to suffer due to the handicap whilst Gavin and Coral enjoyed being part of the 2000 pack (having swapped out of the injured 200). meanwhile Simon and Charlotte were mixing it at the front to secure 4th place overall.
