RNSA is seeking applications for the fulltime post as Chief Executive

The Association is looking for an experienced individual to take RNSA forward as a leading Royal Navy sports body, delivering high quality watersports activity to serving and former-serving members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

The post is responsible for the delivery and promotion of the sport of sailing, at all levels, in the Royal Navy, to include:

• oversight of the organisation and administrative support in the management of all events and competitions;
• the management of the Association’s resources and finances;
• support to the Officers and Officials of the RNSA in forming policy and decision making;
• ensuring compliance with national body and legislation compliance.

The incumbent should be a dynamic empathetic leader who has the vision, inspiration and management skills to provide strategic leadership to the Association, the staff and volunteers. As one of the largest sailing organisation in the UK, the post requires exceptional diplomatic skills to build and sustain close relationships with a multitude of stakeholders, partners and sponsors and be a compelling and effective ambassador for the association and the sport of sailing in the Royal Navy. The job requires high-level financial and Human Resources experience to run the business, and a background in leading successful change management programmes. A deep passion for the sport of sailing, and high-level Royal Yachting Association qualifications, are highly desirable and ideally the applicant should have experience of senior leadership in the Royal Navy.

The applicant will have a key role in taking the Association forward in the transition programme to becoming a Charity and developing the new operating model that supports the new organisational framework. This work will require an understanding of the charity sector and fresh thinking on how to take forward the Association’s business practices in the new era. Experience in marketing and public relations is highly desirable.

The RNSA has a long and proud tradition of being at the forefront of sailing in the UK and the next Chief Executive will be pivotal in modernising the organisation and establishing it in the charity sector.

The Head Office is based in the Haslar Marina, Gosport, but the organisation has Branches throughout the country, in Canada and Australia with members and affiliations all over the globe.
