RNSA(P) Wednesday Autumn Series race 8

Portsmouth - 11 Oct 18 Offshore

The penultimate race of the RNSA(P) Autumn Series and indeed of the 2018 season produced some great sailing conditions. Unseasonal warmth and an easterly wind of around 18 knots easing to 12 as the evening progressed.

Tinker T took on the SOOD task from Wizard who was indisposed and set a leeward / windward course to NE Ryde Middle and back, a distance of 4.5 nautical miles approximately.

The single start had kites popping on the gun and a charge for tactical position. Happy Apple charging in to Darling Associates effectively the ODM on starboard gybe almost forced gybes from Tinker T and Sunshine on port but they just managed to cross the bow of HA and avoid a hasty last minute gybe. Thereafter a prccession developed to the leeward mark which was won by TT closely followed by Sunshine who with an initial problem in hoisting her jib was not able to capitalise on her good upwind speed and was forced to tack away from TT. At the finish line TT managed to hang onto her lead by a few seconds and set up a winner takes all final race next week. Happy Apple has the NHC class fairly well sown up
